Our Story

Welcome to our blog!! My name is Jeny (yes, with one n) and my husband's name is DJ. We have been blissfully married since December 28, 2002. We are so blessed that God has brought us together.

After some difficulty conceiving we were blessed with our daughter Mackenzie on March 21, 2006. She is such an amazing little girl. She loves to learn and has such a compassionate and tender heart. After several conversations and much reassurance that she was not going to another family, Mackenzie quickly jumped on board with the idea of adoption and has handled the entire process with amazing maturity.

In 2008 we began the process of trying to get pregnant again and were blessed with our son Jack. Jack was born on January 14, 2010 almost 16 weeks early. He did very well in the beginning but his immature immune system was very fragile and he acquired an infection that took his life on March 20th of that same year. We miss him so very much but we are resting in God's promise that one day we will all be reunited in heaven.

For several months after we lost Jack I was afraid that I had lost my desire to have another child. We discussed our options at length and agreed to check out adoption, an idea that we had tossed around several times over the years. We attended an adoption seminar at Bethany Christian Services and when we left, we just knew that this was where God was calling us to be.

On August 23, 2011 we got the phone call that changed our lives. Our social worker called to tell us that we had been chosen by a birthmom...and could we please drive directly to the hospital to meet her and take home our daughter. We named our new daughter Avery Joelle and she has been an incredible blessing in our lives. We have some ongoing contact with Avery's birthmom and look forward to watching that relationship grow.

In 2012 we started out with 3 of our friends to start a nonprofit organization Called to Adopt to provide grants and fundraising assistance for families pursuing domestic adoption. It has been a wonderful feeling to bless other families like we've been blessed.

At the end of 2012, God started tugging on our hearts to expand our family again. After exploring our options, God made clear His will for us to pursue domestic adoption again. We submitted our formal application March 19, 2013, finished our homestudy over the summer and are currently (patiently) waiting to be matched. Can't wait to meet the newest member of our family!!

Thank you for taking this journey with us and for all of the love, support and prayers that you guys provide.

Resting in His promise,
Jeny
